Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that he is running for President because President Akufo-Addo’s administration has plunged the country’s economy into shambles.
Speaking to the chiefs and people during his visits to the Gambaga and Nayiri’s palaces as part of his campaign, the former president bemoaned the country’s debt crisis.
He said the impending energy crisis which is causing power outages in parts of the country is a key reason why he is seeking to become President again, assuring that he will address all the challenges facing the country when elected.
“I’m running for president again because our country is in crisis. The nation that I handed over to the last Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has not been able to move the country up to the next level.
“Today as I speak our economy is in shambles, we are in a debt crisis, energy crisis is starting again, every day the lights are being put off and so destiny calls that I should once again offer myself to the people of Ghana with the experience that I have so that we can lift Ghana and put her back on her feet,” John Dramani Mahama said.
NDC flagbearer John Dramani is in the North East Region as part of his campaign for President.
Although several polls have tipped him to emerge winner at the end of the December 7 presidential election, he faces strong competition from the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
