Gov’t since 2017 has provided 1,000 homes for our security services – Kojo Oppong Nkrumah

The Minister in charge of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that 1,000 housing units have been constructed and completed for the various security services under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration.

This the Minister insists is part of government's commitment to providing decent housing for Ghanaians.

“In line with this, our Government has remained committed to providing decent accommodation for the security services. Since 2017, 1,000 housing units have been delivered for the security agencies in the country, significantly alleviating the housing challenges faced by these essential Agencies.

“These include Naval Command housing units in Tema, which have 368 apartments, 312 new Police housing units in Kwabenya, and 320 recently commissioned Police homes in Tesano. These projects have also provided multi-purpose sports centres and playgrounds for personnel and their families, amongst other critical amenities, to improve the quality of life for our service men and women,” Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said on Monday, September 30.

The Minister for Works and Housing was briefing the press at the Ministry of Information.

In his address, the Minister stressed the importance of providing decent housing for Ghanaians, noting that it not only enriches the lives of the people but enhances their dignity.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah added that the provision of decent housing provides communities with decent housing, creates jobs, and incomes for hundreds of people, and increases economic activity and growth in the housing sector of the economy.

“For specialised worker groups like the security services, it further boosts their morale and helps them discharge their duties,” the Works and Housing Minister said.

In his briefing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah assured that government through his Ministry will continue to innovate to find ways to make housing affordable for all Ghanaians.
