A Future With China Running The Show

An intelligent person must always prepare for the inevitable - you must have foresight and insight into different things that may directly and indirectly affect you. For instance, most intelligent Ugandans nolonger take most of the current opposition seriously, particularly Bobi and NUP, and they see a transition to another NRM backed president without so much input from the opposition. Bobi has reduced the opposition to the joke of the century.

Similarly, It is known that ,currently, China grows faster than the US. The current trend is that the growth rate for China would improve. For the US, the Covid19 situation would be a drag on their growth. So simple reasoning would tell that China is likely to overtake the US in terms of economic growth. But of course, the US has leadership in some sectors.

China has already exceeded the US in terms of PPP, manufacturing output, and a few other metrics. It will overtake the US in terms of GDP in a few years, barring a major CRASH.IT is following the trajectory set by Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan.

In some areas of AI, China is ahead of the US, such as facial recognition, mostly because of their huge surveillance system. In addition, China has created a celebrity culture of research and development and targeted AI as one of the main areas of focus.

The US has no master plan and is driven by market forces. That increases its likelihood that it may be left behind.

Handel Jones, a US corporate strategist with four decades of experience in tech and defence, predicts that, by 2040, it will be too late” for the US to catch up.

So, developed nations, like the UK, have come up with reports on how they will function with China at the top of the food chain in the future. The African Union should have people thinking like that, too.

Similarly, most intelligent people in Uganda are already thinking of how they will function with an NRM continuity in the country with or without Museveni.

It may be hard for the USA to stop the Chinese rise compared to India. Chinese culture is still value success as your own boss and royalty to the fatherland. China has not been colonised compared to India. India has been under British rules for close to 350 years (longer than the Qing Dynasty). Westernisation is held at high esteem in the elites.

The US having never been an enemy of China is factually false since the Qing court considered the US as a belligerent power. Even then, when the former German colonies were given to Japan instead of returned to China at the conclusion of WWI, it made the new Chinese republic certain that in the eyes of the US and the Western powers, China would not be considered as an equal.

Yes, the USA helped to stop China from being divided at the conclusion of their war with Japan, but the Chinese have never forgiven them for forcing them to let Taiwan go.
