There are few words that can capture the depth of gratitude I feel for my late parents, Chief Inspector Kofi Acheampong, affectionately known as “Englishman”, and Elizabeth Acheampong, lovingly called “Abena Nkrumah”. As I reflect on my journey, now filled with accomplishments, I cannot help but feel the profound absence of two individuals who played the most vital roles in my life. They gave everything they had to ensure that I would stand where I am today, yet fate did not allow them to witness the fruits of their immeasurable sacrifices. This tribute is my heartfelt acknowledgment of their selflessness, unwavering support and boundless love.

My father, Chief Inspector Kofi Acheampong, was not just a law enforcement officer, but also a man with a deep love for education and the English language. hence his nickname, “Englishman”. It was his passion for learning that first ignited the flame of intellectual curiosity within me. He believed in the power of knowledge and instilled in me the understanding that education was not just a means to an end, but the key to unlocking a world of possibilities. My father’s tireless work ethic, his commitment to doing right by his family, and his insistence on excellence were the foundations upon which my own determination was built. No matter the personal cost, he was relentless in ensuring that I had the best opportunities available.

My mother, Elizabeth Acheampong, was the epitome of grace, strength and unconditional love. She lived every day with an unshakable belief in my potential. No sacrifice was too great for her; she would give her last without hesitation if it meant advancing my future. Her nurturing spirit gave me the emotional resilience to face life’s challenges, and her wisdom guided me through difficult times. The countless late nights she spent comforting me during my struggles, the words of encouragement she whispered into my ears, and her unwavering faith in my abilities still resonate with me today. She was my rock, my anchor, and the quiet force that propelled me forward, always ready to lift me when I faltered.

Both of my parents taught me the true meaning of sacrifice. They didn’t live for themselves, they lived for me. They worked tirelessly, often spending their last card, ensuring that I could dream, grow and become the person I am today. Even in the face of financial hardship, they never let me feel the weight of their struggles. They bore the brunt of it all with quiet dignity, shielding me from the harsh realities of life so that I could focus on my education and future.

I stand here now, a proud lecturer, a journalist and a public relations expert with advanced degrees and certifications from respected institutions across the world, and all of it is because of them. Though my parents did not live to see this day, their spirit lives within every achievement I attain. Every success, every milestone is a testament to their legacy. Their love, commitment and belief in me were not in vain.

Chief Inspector Kofi Acheampong, my “Englishman”, and Elizabeth Acheampong, my dear “Abena Nkrumah”, I thank you from the depths of my heart. I carry your memory with me every day, and I will continue to honour you through my work, my achievements, and by living a life that reflects the values you instilled in me. You may be gone, but your legacy will live on forever. Rest in peace.
