The Atwima-Nwabiagya District Director of Education, Mrs. Dinah Appiah, has directed all heads of basic schools to allow pregnant candidates to write the upcoming BECE examinations.

Mrs Appiah said pregnant candidates who are capable of sitting for the examination should not be prevented from doing so.

Speaking to the GNA, she cautioned against acts that would undermine the success of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) scheduled for Monday, April 23.

Mrs Appiah told the school heads and examination authorities to also allow genuine BECE candidates without prescribed school uniforms to write the examination.

She warned teachers against the collection of unauthorized fees from candidates and said teachers and basic school heads should strictly comply with the guidelines of the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).

She advised examination supervisors and invigilators to exercise the maximum professional competency and caution to avoid any examination malpractices.
