What type of deprivation, branding or relative poverty has eaten so deep into Blackman’s psyche? So much so that in the midst of the most arable Continent flowing with diamonds, gold, uranium, oil, milk and honey; delusion and self-acculturation in and outside his community is more desirable and attractive. It goes beyond the masters of consumption but producers of very little at home.
It is difficult to distinguish one cabal from the other no matter the good intention of each. While some of us empathize with Dangote's effort to produce and refine petroleum products at home, many of us also realize that he is a member of the Cabals. Tinubu, another member of the Cabals was briefly hailed when he brought the naira to about a thousand to one dollar. As soon as his fellow Cabals realized this, they dug into their Naira storage in graves and warehouses.
So, even Tinubu could not control his fellow Cabals or bring them to their senses. It seems the competition has shifted to Tinubu versus Dangote on the price of refined petroleum. These two Cabals cannot settle their greed for the sake of Nigeria. There is more to this price of petroleum that has escaped the many capable hands for so many years. More Nigerians support Dangote in this competition because of Tinubu’s interest in Oando Petroleum.
It has not sunk into Africans’ mentality or psyche that Africa is the only Continent left where they can throw off oppression and domination of their power and capacity. The only place where Black Wall Street can flourish without interruption. Black prosperity will always be interrupted outside of Africa where African men are part of the minorities and the least powerful. The hate is worldwide but when people that have suffered more than any other in the world engage in the same ugly behavior, they have not learned from our history.
There are conscientious, competent and informed Africans in Africa that can make each country productive. But they are never put in the right place at the right time. We know these capable individuals in our villages, towns and countries. Yet, they hardly get the opportunities to serve. Only Africans can save individual countries from within, not Foreign Salvation, Aids or Africans from Diaspora.
Unfortunately, the ones that came back home are still frustrated or under utilized where the only money game in town is in politics. The same Blackmen blame one another when they cannot function or are rendered helpless by their oppressors outside Africa. If we cannot help ourselves inside Africa, which foreign Salvation or Investment is going to help us reach or surpass their level of development, if not wishful thinking or daydreaming.
Others predicted that once African leaders gained control, they would send their people back into the Dark Continent. Ian Smith had noted that African would eventually take over but not in his lifetime. Mugabe took over Zimbabwe in his lifetime. Before we second guess the motive of African Nationals Congress leaders in South Africa that allied with the Democratic Alliance, there are those looking for the same alliance in other African countries just for the change.
They claim alliance with the children of their colonial masters would bring check, balance, accountability and decency to African politicians that have lost their way as Ian Smith of Northern Rhodesia predicted. We are also reminded that for the sake of peace and inclusion, Mandela formed a Government of National Unity. There is a difference between the condition for handing power back to Blacks in South Africa and African political parties in control for years, including minority white parties.
We may be born in the so-called Dark Continent, the deeds and evil of the local and foreigners enablers for their selfish ends must not define our yearning for Economic Freedom. Many patriotic Africans studied around the world only to realize that we are better informed at home than those who tagged us with derogatory names. So that they can impose their cultures and educational systems that have no relevance to our more progressive ideas, inspirations, fulfillment of our objectives and determination of our goals.
While some people cry Never Again, Africans refused to remind themselves that they are and were the most oppressed people in the world. Go anywhere in the world, there is a certain affinity and brotherly love within people of the same ethnic group. There was a time that if you see any Black anywhere in any country, we embrace first before knowing which country we belong. We now ignore one another. Most reasonable people agree to disagree peacefully without resorting to wars, ethnic cleansing and xenophobia.
Instantaneous affection for one another has diminished considerably from Africa to other continents. It is this "self-hatred" that our leaders engage in to loot the foreign reserves mercilessly without empathy, sympathy and indifference to the people they are supposed to care for. Suddenly violence erupted in Kenya as the last drop that broke the camel's back. We cannot go on blaming Colonial powers when we elect traitors within to negotiate better economic survival and future. We can no longer remain obsequious to politicians.
What we got as Africans are leaders who secured their opulence at the expense of the poor they were supposed to rescue. The followers are not without blame as they point fingers to one another along ethnic lines. The spontaneous revolt in Morocco and Kenya should have sent warnings to other African leaders that their followers will rise against them if they do not lead by example. The solution is not to look for greener pastures in foreign countries but to turn our homes into better pastures than where we run to.
African Youths and even middle-class families sell whatever they acquired in their lifetime to seek a greener pasture Abroad! These are places their families succumb to “good education” by indoctrination abandoning their own culture that propelled others like Asians that stuck with theirs into success abroad. Men, the backbone and pillars of every family in all cultures are the first casualty outside Africa. Black Men are threatened, not only outside their homes abroad but by the members of their families at home.
