President Nana Akufo-Addo has terminated the appointment of Mr. Dodzie Numoh Kevor as the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) in the wake of Ghana's sports stadium infrastructure shortcomings.
In a letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Amb. Nana Bediatuo Asante, Mr. Kevor was directed to hand over to the Governing Board Chairman of the NSA by close of day on September 17, 2024.
While no official reasons were cited in the letter, the development comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) recently banned the use of Kumasi's Baba Yara Sports Stadium for international matches due to poor pitch conditions.
Other stadia across the country have also been banned, leaving Ghana without adequate home grounds to host matches, exposing the country to international embarrassment.
There has been growing criticism of the NSA and the sports ministry for failing to adequately maintain Ghana's sports facilities which are in a dilapidated state.
