The Ghana Police Service has issued a press release reacting to reports of a shooting incident during the Enough Is Enough demonstration held nationwide by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In its release, the Police stated emphatically that no shooting incident happened during the demonstration in Kumasi.
The Police, however, confirmed that some demonstrators had to be restrained after forcing their way into the compound of the Electoral Commission office.
“The Ghana Police Service wishes to state that there has been no shooting incident at the Kumasi office of the Electoral Commission and no demonstrator has been injured by the Police.
“However, some demonstrators who went against the agreed arrangement by forcing their way into the compound of the EC office were restrained,” the release from the Ghana Police Service said.
Meanwhile, the Police have urged the media to be circumspect in their reportage.
