The Ghana Police Service has denied claims that protesters were shot at during the 'Enough is Enough' demonstration held by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumasi.

In a statement released on social media, the police said "there has been no shooting incident at the Kumasi office of the Electoral Commission and no demonstrator has been injured by the Police."

However, the police confirmed that "some demonstrators who went against the agreed arrangement by forcing their way into the compound of the EC office were restrained."

This comes in response to the chaos that erupted in Kumasi as police deployed teargas to disperse NDC supporters who clashed with law enforcement officers during the ‘Enough is Enough’ demonstration held nationwide.

The protest escalated into violence when tensions flared between the demonstrators and the police with one protester and police officer sustaining injuries and being rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The demonstrations were held across all 16 regional capitals as protesters aimed to draw attention to alleged irregularities in the voters' register.

In the regions, crowds numbering thousands are marched to regional EC offices to submit petitions outlining the NDC's grievances with the electoral process.

The party claims significant irregularities were found during the recent voter exhibition, including missing names and duplicates.

Despite calls for an audit, the EC has so far refused to conduct one, insisting the issues with the register are being addressed.

However, the opposition party insists that the issue can only be addressed when the voters' register goes through an independent forensic audit by any of the audit firms.
