‘You should be voting for NDC; we always choose our flagbearer, running mates here’ — Asiedu Nketiah to Central Region

The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has appealed to the people of the Central Region to vote for the NDC in the upcoming elections.

Addressing a campaign event, Mr Asiedu Nketiah noted that the NDC has always picked people from the Central Region as its flagbearers or running mates in all eight elections held since the beginning of Ghana's Fourth Republic.

"In our first election, we chose someone (K.N. Arkaah) from the Central Region as our running mate. In our second election, we selected Prof. Mills as our running mate, and in our third election, Prof. Mills became our flagbearer," the NDC Chairman said.

He added "When he (Prof Mills) died, John Mahama took over and selected someone (P.K. Amissah-Arthur) from the Central Region to be Vice President. After Amissah-Arthur, today, we have Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang from the Central Region as our running mate and soon-to-be Vice President."

Mr Asiedu Nketiah questioned why the people of the region continue to vote against the NDC despite the party's consistent recognition and inclusion of sons and daughters of the region.

"So, you have a lot of valuable assets, but you are discarding them. Why are you throwing out your intestines and replacing them with rubbish? ...Yet, during elections, you vote against the NDC. Think about this carefully," the NDC Chairman said.

He urged residents of the Central Region to critically examine the NDC's track record in the region and vote to return the party to power on January 7, 2025.
