The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has called on the public to report any individuals presenting themselves as middlemen and demanding money from prospective recruits.
In a statement released on September 13, Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, the Director of Public Relations at GAF, said the forces do not employ middlemen for enlistment.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to remind the general public that it does not employ middlemen or agents for enlistment.
“The public is strongly advised to desist from paying monies to any person(s) who present themselves as middlemen or agents with the promise of helping potential applicants to secure enlistment into GAF,” reads the statement in part.
The spokesperson stressed that “individuals who present themselves as middlemen, intermediaries or agents demanding payment in order to assist any candidate(s) should be reported to the nearest military installation or Police Station.”
He said anyone who pays money to such ‘middlemen’ with the hope of enlistment “is equally culpable in the fraudulent act.”
The statement comes as GAF opens the recruitment process for 2024.
Electronic vouchers costing GH¢350 are being sold at designated Ghana Post offices for prospective recruits to apply online by October 11.
Gen. Aggrey-Quashie advised the public to refer only to information in reputable news outlets and abstain from engaging scammers touting themselves on social media.
