Professor John Evans Atta Mills' visit to the Akosombo Hydro-Electric Dam site on April 11, has attracted questions as to why President J. A. Kufuor has not visited the place to ascertain the depth of the situation and tell his views as to how best to solve the problem.

Followers of the Former Vice President during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) era, who accompanied him to the dam site were heard saying "he is not a sitting President but as a good citizen of the land he has shown concern by visiting the generation site and shared his views as to how best to solve the problem"

Those in Prof. Mills' entourage included Dr. Kwame Ampofo, a Member of Parliament (MP) and one of the 'experts' offered by the NDC for Government to consult on the energy crisis, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, National Organizer of NDC, Mr. Kwabena Adjei, National Chairman, Ludwig Hluge and almost all the Eastern Regional party executives.

Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, later speaking to party supporters pointed out that it was because Prof. Atta Mills cared about the country so much that he had taken time off his tight schedule to ascertain the situation there and to join hands with Ghanaians to find a lasting solution to the problem.

He said, what the NDC flagbearer had done demonstrates to all that he is in fact the future president who will wrest the seat from President J. A. Kufuor come 2008, and take office in January 2009.

After the visit, some ordinary residents in their various discussions have been asking when the President would also visit the dam site.
