North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says he eagerly awaits the outcome of the police investigation into an ongoing land dispute between Ghana International School (GIS) and alleged encroachers that he calls "intriguing".

The dispute stems from reports that on August 31 at 2am, Chief Superintendent Ibrahim Opoku, who identified himself as being from the VIP Protection Unit at the presidency, offered protection to suspected encroachers attempting to forcibly seize parts of GIS land in Cantonments, Accra.

However, the presidency has denied any involvement, with Director of Communications Eugene Arhin saying in a statement that "it does NOT have any interest whatsoever in the piece of land in question" and that it did not direct "any officer, agent or assign" to interfere.

Reacting to this in a social media post, Ablakwa wrote: "Intriguing! Ghana’s Presidency says Chief Superintendent Ibrahim Opoku of its VVIP unit only chanced upon the 2am GIS attempted illegal land grab on his way from work.”

“The battle against State Capture just got more mysterious. We eagerly await the outcome of the IGP’s investigations,” he wrote in response to a complaint filed with the Ghana Police Service by the Presidency.

Meanwhile, earlier on Thursday, September 5, Ablakwa had reported that GIS has been "compelled to use its school buses as a blockade" to stop further attempts to seize its land.

He has accused the administration of "state capture", calling on Ghanaians to resist "unscrupulous land looters".
