Nkoranza Traditional Council has dismissed reports that it invoked curses on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, over alleged disrespect.
The council described the claims as false and contrary to its values and practices.
The reports had suggested that the chief of Doromakese in Nkoranza North of the Bono East region had invoked curses on Mahama and the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Joseph Mensah after they allegedly disrespected the traditional authorities.
According to the reports, Mahama had promised to pay a courtesy call to the council but failed to show up, sparking anger among the traditional leaders.
The council had allegedly banned NDC campaign activities in Doromakese and invoked the gods to deal with anyone who would vote for Mahama and Mensah.
However, in a statement on Wednesday, September 4, the Nkoranza Traditional Council urged the public to disregard the false claims and encouraged responsible reportage.
