The Volta Regional Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Comrade Thomas Ntumi has said Ghana's economic freedom remains an unfulfilled aspiration.

He firmly believes that the CPP's return to government is the key to realizing this dream.

Addressing delegates at the decentralized National Delegates Congress in Ho, Ntumi pointed out that while Ghana has achieved political independence, it has yet to attain true economic independence. He encouraged delegates to stay optimistic, drawing a parallel to 1957 when Ghana's independence seemed far-fetched but was made possible by the CPP.

Ntumi emphasized that even after 60 years of political independence, economic freedom is still elusive, asserting that only the CPP can deliver on this front. He acknowledged the skepticism surrounding the party's ability to return to power but assured that the CPP is working diligently to prove its doubters wrong.

He expressed confidence that the congress will set the stage for the CPP's success in the upcoming December 7 general election, aiming to change the prevailing narrative about the party's potential.

Despite a nearly hour-long delay, the congress commenced with representatives from all constituencies, except for the Adaklu Constituency.

According to the regional secretary, the absence of Adaklu representatives might be due to the earlier postponement of the congress. However, the secretary remains hopeful that they will arrive before the event concludes. The congress is set to continue with its proceedings, including the election of a Flagbearer.

Meanwhile, the referendum to amend the party's constitution has been temporarily put on hold, pending the announcement of results.
