Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davies Opoku Ansah, has urged Ghanaians to explore the treasures of their own country before venturing abroad.

Speaking at the official launch of the Ghana Tourism Authority's (GTA) 'Tourism Month', the MP highlighted the rich experiences that can be found within the nation's borders, particularly in Kwahu, known for its breathtaking scenery and cultural significance.

"Instead of taking your money to Dubai, come to Kwahu first," Opoku Ansah stated. "If you want to experience the good weather in Dubai, first come to Kwahu and experience our weather. After doing that, you can decide whether to go to Dubai or stay in Kwahu."

The MP emphasized the financial benefits and enjoyment that come with choosing Kwahu as a destination. "With Kwahu, you will save a lot of money and have a lot of fun," he assured potential tourists, adding his full endorsement of the activities planned under the 'Tourism Month' initiative.

The GTA's 'Tourism Month' is an annual event held every September to promote domestic tourism, encouraging Ghanaians to explore the country's diverse cultural heritage, scenic landscapes, and vibrant festivals. The initiative aims to boost the local tourism industry by urging citizens to discover and appreciate the beauty of their own land.

Opoku Ansah also shared his personal experiences of exploring different regions in Ghana, noting how these travels have broadened his appreciation of the country's diverse cultures and environments. "I was invited to Nzema and I enjoyed their coconut. I'm even considering investing in coconut farming when I leave Parliament one day because of how profitable it is," he revealed.

He stressed the importance of Ghanaians not just leaving tourism to foreign visitors but actively participating in it themselves. "While moving around the country, you get to appreciate different types of cultures, people, and environments. We will not only leave tourism to people coming to our country," he said.
