The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has launched a website on the re-denomination of the cedi to keep the general public informed about the exercise.

The re-denomination exercise is scheduled to come into effect in July this year.

A release from the central bank named the website address as www.ghanacedi.gov.gh and said it had features such as two currency converters which could convert the cedi to the new Ghana cedi and vice versa and could also convert the cedi or the new Ghana cedi to foreign currencies and vice versa.

The site also provides regular updates on the re-denomination exercise through news flash and has provision for subscription to the news and events alert which automatically sends information updates to the subscriber's e-mail.

The release said reportage carried in the newspapers about the re-denomination could also be accessed in the news highlights links provided on the website.

The BoG said instruction on how to request for conversion through a text messaging system through Areeba, Onetouch and tiGo had also been supplied at the re-denomination website.

The site also allows for a “Ghana cedi quick survey” which solicits views from visitors to the website on various aspects of the exercise in a poll and provides the results of the poll.
