The Secretary to the Okyenhene, Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta, has filed a defamation suit at the Accra High Court against former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, Hopeson Adorye and Media General, the parent company of TV3 and Onua TV.

The suit has been filed following commentary by Hopeson Adorye on the Agyapadie document.

During an appearance on Onua TV on July 26, the former NPP member is alleged to have claimed that Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta, who doubles as the stool secretary of the Ofori Panin Stool, is one of the book's authors.

“I know… the name of the writer. His name has been mentioned here. He is my very good friend. I will mention his name to you as we are moving on. I will tell you his name.

“His name has been mentioned alongside his co- writers and others. They are in charge of certain things. The technical team led by D M Ofori Atta should further evaluate the following details in order to choose the appropriate sites, galamsey,” Hopeson Adorye said.

To clear his name Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta has dragged Hopeson Adorye and Media General to court.

He is seeking several legal remedies, including a declaration that the statements made by Adorye on Onua TV are defamatory, and GH₵10million in damages.

He also requests a public apology, retraction of the statements, and a permanent injunction to prevent Adorye and Media General from making further defamatory comments.
