Business activities came to a standstill at Makola Market in the Central Business Districts(CBDs) of the Greaater Accra Region when Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the 2024 running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), brought her campaign to the bustling marketplace.
The visit drew hundreds of enthusiastic traders who flooded the area to show their support, resulting in significant traffic congestion.
Despite not being scheduled to speak until her meeting with the market queens, the overwhelming crowd prompted Prof. Opoku-Agyemang to address the traders from the roof of her vehicle, as they blocked her path.
In her impromptu speech, she urged the traders to vote wisely in the upcoming December 7 general elections, emphasizing that their votes would shape the future of the country.
She also highlighted the NDC's plans to establish a women’s development bank, aimed at providing traders with access to capital at low interest rates, and introduced the idea of a 24-hour economy to boost job creation.
In meeting the market queens, the NDC running mate said, Mr Mahama is noted for speaking the truth and wouldn't lie to them.
She said the party would continue to work with them to address their challenges at the Makola Market.
