I'm not too sure Bawumia is an idiot but at least I'm sure he's a liar – Asiedu Nketia

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has reaffirmed the position that the party will not allow flagbearer John Dramani Mahama to debate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The reason he explains is simply because it goes against his principles in politics.

Speaking to Joy News, the popular politician said there is no point in debating what he described as "an idiot or a liar."

He said although he is not sure Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is an idiot, he does not doubt that the NPP flagbearer is a liar.

"If you have watched me throughout my political life, there are two people I don’t debate. My guiding principles are two: Don't debate an idiot and don't debate a liar. So, any of these two who tempt me for any debate, I ignore them.

"I am not saying the two must fit one person, but when you look at the two categorisations, you see that he [Dr. Bawumia] is a liar. That is something nobody can contest. I'm not too sure whether he's an idiot, but at least I'm sure he's a liar,” Johnson Asiedu Nketia said.

Although Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has openly declared his readiness to debate the former president, the NDC seems uninterested.

However, many Ghanaians including Civil Society Organisations hope to see the two political party leaders debating before the 2024 general election in December.
