Eugene Boakye Antwi, Member of Parliament for Subin, has revealed the circumstances surrounding the removal of Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as Majority Leader.
The MP has accused Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, the cousin of President Akufo-Addo of orchestrating the move due to false suspicions.
In an interview on Oyerepa TV, Boakye Antwi claimed that Gabby Otchere-Darko mistakenly believed that Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was eyeing the Finance Minister position, leading to his ousting.
Boakye Antwi clarified that Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was wrongfully linked to the "Ken Must Go" protest by some NPP MPs, which called for the removal of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, but insisted that Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu had no hand in it.
"Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was removed after the 'Ken Must Go' press conference.
“They sacked him because he came to my house. Gabby falsely believed that Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu wanted the Finance Minister position," Boakye Antwi stated.
He further accused Gabby Otchere-Darko of spreading false information, clarifying that the push for a new Finance Minister was never intended to benefit Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
"Gabby is a liar. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was never behind the 'Ken Must Go' issue. Gabby even called me to his house, and I told him to record whatever I was saying.
“During our conversation, we made it clear that we wanted an MP to be the finance minister. Gabby assumed it was Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu," he expressed.
