‘Coward’ Bryan Acheampong is noted for political violence; we need to be careful about him – Edudzi Tamakloe

Head of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe has condemned the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong for his alleged inciting comments.

The Minister addressing a charged crowd at a campaign rally of the NPP in Nsawam in the Eastern Region said the party will do everything possible to win the 2024 general election.

“I have said that whether the NDC likes it not, they will never win the 2024 elections. They would not win. You can check their records. They would not win. The NPP would win the elections. The NPP exists to win elections.

“So, we would do whatever it takes to win the elections. We are a political party that has pastors, imams, and traditionalists so whatever means we would take to win the elections, we would do so. ‘Burn the sea if you don’t understand, we'll win and continue with our good works,” Bryan Acheampong said.

Many people have spoken against his comments, noting that they can incite the youth to engage in violence in the December 7 polls.

Speaking to Citi News today, Edudzi Tamakloe described Bryan Acheampong as someone prone to violence.

He said while the Minister is a coward, Ghanaians must be careful of him when it comes to issues of political violence.

“This is a person that you and I need to be careful about.

“…The Bryan I know is a coward. When he wanted to buy the SSNIT Hotels, small push from Organised Labour and he backed out. He should never try to undermine the collective will of the people of this country. We may be quiet but he should never take us for granted,” Edudzi Tamakloe said.

On the same platform, Bryan Acheampong rejected the notion that his comments were inciting.

He explained that he only meant the ruling NPP knows how to win an election and will win the upcoming December 7 polls.
