Last Friday, the Ranis Foundation, a charitable organization based in Accra, donated building materials to support the maintenance of Agona Akokoase AEDA Primary School in the Agona East District of the Central Region.

The donation aims to create a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning and to facilitate the upkeep of the 26-year-old school, which has been subject to weather-related disruptions due to its poor condition.

Rev. Kweku Boakye Sarpong, the Director of the Ranis Foundation, presented the materials to the school, emphasizing the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the needy across various sectors of the economy. He highlighted that the Founder and CEO of the Ranis Foundation, Mr. Charles Kwabena Kesse (Kobby), envisioned helping the needy and engaging in other charitable endeavors since the Foundation’s inception in 2019.

"Mr. Charles Kwabena Kesse sent us a video depicting the deplorable state of Agona Akokoase AEDA Primary School and tasked us with taking immediate action to address the situation," Rev. Sarpong explained. "We, therefore, decided to support the maintenance of the school with 7 packets of roofing sheets, comprising 140 single pieces, and 10 baskets of paint to give the school a facelift. This is an ideal time to commence the project because the children are on vacation, ensuring that the work won’t disrupt classes."

He expressed hope that the project would be completed before the school reopens, motivated by the school's and children's deprived conditions. "We will continue to support the school to bring it on par with other basic educational institutions in the country," Rev. Sarpong noted.

The Headteacher of the school, Mr. Noah Kwasi Ahiable, received the materials on behalf of the community and praised the Ranis Foundation for its generous gesture, describing it as God-sent. "We are extremely happy for this donation because, for many years, this school has been at the mercy of the weather. Most of the school's textbooks and other teaching-related learning materials have been destroyed due to rainfall and leaks from the rooftop," he stated.

The event was attended by the DCE for Agona East, Hon. Janet Odei Paintsil; the Agona East District Director of NADMO, Mr. Solomon Kweku Paintsil; Mr. Isaac Ntsiful, Personnel Officer of Agona East District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service; and staff of the Ranis Foundation, among others.
