Private legal practitioner, Lawyer Martin Kpebu has stated that he is unable to lend support to the report of the investigations conducted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on the Airbus Scandal simply because nothing was found against former president John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking in a discussion on TV3 on Saturday, August 10, Lawyer Kpebu said as far as money was paid to Adam Foster, John Dramani Mahama’s brother, he will never be happy about the transaction.

“Once money has gone into the president’s brother’s pocket we will never be happy about it, because there is suspicion,” Lawyer Martin Kpebu said.

He continued, “Now that Foster [Mahama’s brother] got that money, do you know how much he will continue to JM’s campaign?”

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng at a press briefing on Thursday, August 8, cleared John Dramani Mahama of allegations of receiving bribes in the Airbus scandal after closing its investigations into the matter.

Addressing the press, he confirmed that John Dramani Mahama is Government Official One but there is no evidence to substantiate claims that he received a bribe in the transaction between the government of Ghana and Airbus SE in the sale of the military aircrafts.

In his reaction to the findings of the report, Lawyer Martin Kpebu said the findings do not end the matter.

“It doesn’t bring finality, it is just it is a truce, matters like this because it is criminal in nature, if tomorrow they find any evidence that is incriminating they will go back to it,” Lawyer Martin Kpebu said.
