Nineteen (19) People with disabilities in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono region have been provided with a range of items totalling GHS39,400 to enable them earn a living.

The support aligns with their share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), which is meant to address the needs of persons with Disabilities in various aspects of their lives.

They were provided with refrigerators, Sawing machines, industrial machines, payment of school fees, medical bills and startup capital to help create sustainable opportunities for them, recognizing their potential support to contribute meaningfully to the local economy.

The startup tools and capital are expected to assist the beneficiaries in acquiring the necessary resources and materials to establish and sustain their new businesses.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the presentation, Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum, the Municipal Chief Executive said the initiative aligns with the broader efforts to reduce unemployment among them and enhanced their overall quality of life and promote inclusivity.

He urged the beneficiaries to consider the support as an investment and use it wisely to acquire the necessary resources, equipment and materials that would contribute to the growth and profitability of their new businesses.

Mariam Gariba from the Social Welfare Department caution the beneficiaries against selling the items but make good use of them to improve their livelihoods.

She warned that the department would monitor them to ensure the beneficiaries effectively utilise the items.
