Hoteliers in Kumasi have been urged to embrace technology in their management practices to enhance efficiency and remain competitive in the industry.
The importance of integrating digital platforms at every stage of guest engagement was emphasized as a key strategy for improving operations.
This call to action was made during a forum for hotel directors in Kumasi, held on Thursday, August 8, 2024. The event was organized by the Ghana Hotels Association in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority, under the theme "Strategic Investment in the Hospitality Industry in a Contemporary World."
Speaking at the event, Mr. Akwasi Agyemang, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, encouraged hotel directors to adopt technological solutions and leverage available data to boost their businesses. He noted that many hotels in Kumasi have yet to establish a presence on digital platforms, which could significantly enhance their visibility and operations.
In addition to technology adoption, Mr. Agyemang urged hotel owners to invest in their workforce through motivation and training, emphasizing that a strong human resource base is essential for business continuity. "Hotel owners must recognize the importance of human resources and prioritize the development of their staff," he said.
Echoing these sentiments, Mr. G.K. Arkoh Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Hotels Association, highlighted the benefits of digital platform utilization for improving service delivery. He also stressed the importance of maintaining industry standards, urging members to operate within the required benchmarks for the hospitality sector.
