Ghanaian social media commentator Kevin Taylor has slammed former New Patriotic Party MP for Ejisu, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, for rejoining the party after falling out with the party.
He claimed the politician took money from the ruling party to betray the youths who had trusted him during the by-elections and agreed to let the elections be rigged.
"This guy is a very filthy politician. He cashed out at the expense of the Ejisu youth. I told you from the beginning he took money, which is why he allowed them to rig the election," he wrote in a social media post on Wednesday, August 7.
Mr. Owusu Aduomi fell out with the party after losing the constituency’s ticket to the late John Kumah before the 2020 elections.
However, the Ashanti Regional NPP Council of Elders has brokered reconciliation talks between the party and the former deputy roads minister.
In a statement released on Tuesday, August 6, the Council of Elders said Mr. Owusu Aduomi "respectfully responded to overtures made" and attended a reconciliation meeting with the Council.
"In a meeting characterised by frank and open discussions of issues that have happened in the past, Owusu Aduomi announced to the delight of the members of the Council of Elders that he has put everything behind him and went on to announce his return to the party unconditionally," the statement said in part.
It noted that Mr. Owusu Aduomi said "his umbilical cord is planted in NPP and that the NPP runs through the veins of his blood."
The former MP also pledged to speak to his supporters to bring them back to the party, according to the NPP’s release.
