The Director of Communication for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr. Sylvester Sarpong Sorprano has alleged that the main opposition National Democratic Congress has on repeatedly occasions paid the CPP's Asylum Down in the Greater Accra Region office rent.
Mr. Sorprano made this allegation during an appearance on the Ghana Yensom morning show on Accra 100.5 FM, hosted by Akwasi Appiah, on Monday, August 5, 2024.
Mr. Sorprano pointed to this situation as evidence of the CPP's fragmentation and inability to manage its own affairs.
He suggested that without the NDC's benevolence, the CPP would have been evicted by its landlord.
"This is the state of the CPP," he stated.
He further criticized certain individuals within the party who, he claimed, only become active during presidential elections to exploit the party for personal gain.
According to Mr. Sorprano, these individuals mortgage the party's future for financial benefits they receive from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He accused them of hijacking the CPP's presidential elections solely for their personal gains.
Highlighting the dire state of the CPP, Mr. Sorprano lamented that a party that once led the fight against colonialism and gained independence for Ghana is now unable to afford its own rent
