The NPP are faced with a daunting task going into election 2024. What an uphill fight to get them to the Sugar Candy Mountain, to wit, breaking the abhorrent 8-year cyclical rotation of power between the NPP and NDC.
The son of Kumawu/Asiampa hates that established alternating rotation for obvious reasons already published in some of his previous publications.
When the NPP take one step forward to get the nation into the economic circle of advancement, the NDC come to take the nation two steps backward from the circle and into miles away from its periphery.
From my analysis, Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng aka Alan Cash is consciously facilitating the coming into power of the NDC to take the nation backwards as usual.
He, splitting from NPP to form his political party to contest the upcoming 7 December 2024 general election, but only as an independent presidential candidate, without fielding parliamentary candidates, is a dream lost long before he wakes up.
He knows very well that he can never in a million times win this election as an independent candidate to become the president of Ghana. If he believes deep down in his heart that he can win the election, then I am sorry to confess to him that he is the biggest joker on earth tickling himself and laughing.
His main reason for standing as an independent presidential candidate is to scupper the chances of Dr Alhaji Bawumia contesting on the ticket of NPP from winning the election to become the president of Ghana.
What scores are Alan seeking to settle? Is he seeking to prove to NPP that indeed it was his turn to have become their presidential candidate and that failing, he will ensure NPP lose the election to the NDC to prove how credible he is in NPP and in Ghana?
He wants to become president of Ghana, right? Will he achieve his objective if he loses the election contrary to his expectation? No. Why then is he going independent knowing very well that he can never win more votes than Mr John Dramani Mahama or Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to become the president of Ghana elected on independent candidate ticket?
Is he not simply being mischievous and a saboteur? Is his taken action the best way for seeking redress or revenge?
He threatened to do what he is doing now in 2008 when he lost the NPP presidential primary against Nana Akufo-Addo. He was talked out of that threat.
At this time, he feels it is his turn to become president of Ghana hence going independent when he failed to win the NPP flag bearer slot.
To be frank with him, he is handing victory to John Mahama on a silver platter, but he doesn’t care. If he can’t have it, Bawumia shouldn’t have it, so he thinks. What a case of the Akan saying, “Asansa annya a, akrɔma nso annya”, meaning, “If he cannot get it, nobody should get it”. Both must lose it, he wishes. What a malicious thought!
The bible says in Matthew 12:25 and Luke 11:17 - "And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand".
Can NPP stand when it is divided against itself? No. Therefore, Alan must be prevailed upon to withdraw his candidacy. He is neither doing himself good, nor helping Ghanaians by his action. It is the ordinary poor Ghanaians that stand to suffer when NDC come to power to take the nation back into the dark ages.
In the history of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition, there came a division that led to their defeat in 1979. This was during the era of the Popular Front Party (PFP).
“William Ofori Atta, popularly known as Paa Willie lost the PFP flagbearership race to Victor Owusu in a presidential primary election”. He was allegedly incited by late Brigadier General A. A. Afrifa, former Head of State, to split from PFP to form his party.
Paa Willie formed the United National Convention (UNC), a centrist political party in Ghana during the Third Republic (1979–1981). In the elections held on 18 June 1979 UNC presidential candidate William Ofori Atta won 17.4% of the vote and the party won 13 of 140 seats in the National Assembly”.
By his action, neither PFP nor UNC won the election. They both lost to PNC headed by Dr Hilla Limann.
Is Alan Cash not on course to let history repeat itself?
For Alan, the ball had better go to corner instead of goal. Does he?
I appeal to Alan by this write-up to reconsider his stance if he really loves Ghanaians and wants to serve them.
Any vote that goes to Alan from anyone on 7th December 2024, should bear in mind it is a wasted vote but indirectly cast in favour of Mr John Dramani Mahama, the most policies-deficient populist politician in Ghana.
Therefore, I appeal to all NPP members and sympathisers intending to vote for Alan Cash to reconsider their decision if indeed, they want Ghana to prosper. They should rather vote for Dr Bawumia.
They shouldn’t become victims of the proverbial Akan saying, “Sɛ wo fa nwansena ho abofuo a, wo bere wo kuro”, literary translated into English as, “You end up increasing the pain of your wound by your annoyance towards the fly”. It means, you can end up becoming a victim to your own hatred towards someone; a case of the predator becoming the prey.
