Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, fondly known as Hajia Kande in political circles, was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Elohim Theological College & Seminary on Friday, August 2, 2024.
Twum-Ampofo, who serves as the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency and is the former Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), received this honor from the prestigious institution accredited under the World-wide Ecumenical Accreditation Network.
Dr. Julius K. Baffour, the seminary's president, spoke before the award presentation, outlining the reasons for Twum-Ampofo's selection. He commended her significant contributions to the infrastructural and human development of Abuakwa North, as well as her exceptional commitment to her constituents. Dr. Baffour noted that she is the MP who has made the most frequent visits to her constituency.
In addition to her work as an MP, Twum-Ampofo was also recognized for her impactful role in advancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana. Her efforts as the Deputy Education Minister in charge of TVET have led to notable progress in the sector.
In her acceptance speech, Twum-Ampofo expressed sincere gratitude to Elohim Theological College & Seminary for the recognition. She shared her surprise at learning that the seminary had been observing her efforts to fulfill her commitments to her constituents.
Hajia Kande emphasized that the honorary doctorate is not merely a recognition of her achievements but also an inspiration to continue her dedication to her community and humanity as a whole.
