Experienced Mahama is exceptional among his contemporaries

The forthcoming general elections is in my view the most important elections in this Fourth republic. It presents us an opportunity to rectify the greatest political mistake in the history of this country which happened in 2016. The said mistake is how gullible we were in believing the malicious and fabricated lies and deceptions of the New Patriotic party and their then candidate Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo prior to the 2016 elections.

In a hindsight, it is easy to understand why that mistake was made. The NPP embarked on the most unethical, deceitful, treacherous fabricated and malicious form of political campaign never witnessed under the Fourth republic. Then candidate Akufo-Addo and his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia mesmerised, dazzled and hypnotised Ghanaians with juicy promises and their well-choreographed political artistry during their media appearances. The rhetorics were interlaced with ear suiting catch-phrases, they were compelling and impossible to resist. The performances of candidate Akufo-Addo and his running mate were irresistible to admire, it showed the control and imaginations of “confident tricksters” at the height of their art.

Their objective was simple; win political power at all cost, and they threw caution to the wind. Their reputation did not matter to them. They strategically and excellently planned their deceptions which were centred on mere sloganeering, one district one factory, one constituency $1 million, one village one dam, moving the economy from taxation to production, using the Anas’ principle, it all turned out to be style without substance. Clearly the NPP cannot be trusted again after deceiving us to get us to the current monumental economic mess.

All these while, a man of immutable integrity, honesty, humility, tolerance, patience and vision H.E. John Dramani Mahama was focused on telling Ghanaians nothing but the truth. He kept his composure and avoided the temptation to also tell lies and make unrealistic promises. He was definitely interested in winning the elections, but his dignity and reputation were so important to him, such that he stood with honesty and integrity whiles all sorts of malicious and fabricated lies were propagated about him by his two desperate opponents.

Here was a man who had built infrastructure never witnessed under the Fourth Republic. He was the one who built, the Terminal 3 at Kotoka international airport, the circle interchange, the University of Ghana Medical Centre, The Bank of Ghana Hospital, The Accra Digital Centre, numerous E blocks, the Kejetia market, Afari Military Hospital, Sewuah Hospital, the Bukom Sports Complex, Kumawu Hospital, Kotokraba market, Saglemi Housing project, the expansion of Kumasi and Tamale airports and Wa regional hospital, water expansion to rural communities and thousands of CHIP compounds across the country.

Unfortunately but understandably, Ghanaians innocently fell for the mendacities and trickeries of the NPP. However, posterity has judged former president John Mahama positively in a very short time than he himself imagined. We have all seen the abysmal handiwork of the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia led government.

Today, we are presented with an opportunity to decide who takes this country forward, we have a great man with vision, honesty, integrity, tolerance, patience and experience in the person of former president John Dramani Mahama. We cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of 2016. H.E. John Dramani Mahama stands tall above all, he is the one to trust because of his honesty, humility, tolerance, patience and above all the experience needed to develop this country. He shoulder responsibilities and deal with it as a leader.

This country has been taken two decades back by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia led administration, it is not the time for novice, but a tried and tested personality like H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

In leadership, honesty is a critical virtue that a leader must not only possess but exhibit in order to carry the masses along to achieve national development, clearly former president Mahama has proved beyond reasonable doubt that he stands tall among his contemporaries and must therefore be given the nod on 7th December.

John Dramani Mahama’s leadership, experience, and vision, patience, tolerance and credibility makes him an exceptional personality and a compelling choice for Ghana’s future. With a focus on economic growth, social justice, youth empowerment, and infrastructural development, Mahama has demonstrated his commitment to building a prosperous and inclusive Ghana. As the nation prepares for the 2024 elections, let us eschew emotions and cautiously consider the merits of his candidacy and unite behind a leader who has consistently exhibited devotion to the betterment of this country.
