The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Richard Asiedu has been reinstated after serving his one-month suspension.
The chairman, Prof Richard Asiedu was suspended by the National Disciplinary Committee last month for misconduct and anti-party behaviour.
In a press release today, the NDC National Disciplinary Committee has confirmed the lifting of the suspension of the Central Regional Chairman.
“The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) at its meeting on the 1st of August, 2024 deliberated at length on the report and took the following decisions: Your suspension as Central Regional Chairman of the Party for a period of one month has elapsed.
“Pursuant to Article 48(9)(f) of the Party’s constitution, you are hereby reinstated to your position as regional Chairman of the party in the Central region with immediate effect,” parts of the release from the NDC said.
It said the suspension has been lifted after Prof. Richard Asiedu admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, and promised not to ever engage in anything that would constitute anti-party behaviour.
“FEC wishes to caution you that the cohesion and unity of the Party in the region are of utmost importance and the party leadership will therefore be watching with eagle eyes to ensure that your conduct after this, does not, in any way jeopardize the chances of the Party in this crucial region ahead of the Dec 7 elections,” the release added.
Meanwhile, Prof. Richard Asiedu has been directed to meet FEC at its next meeting for further interactions.
