On July 29, 2024, the Techiman Municipality kicked off the distribution of free fertilizer and hybrid maize seeds as part of Phase II of the government's Planting for Food and Jobs Policy.
The distribution, which will occur in stages, began with 220 farmers receiving their agricultural inputs today. Each farmer was provided with two bags of NPK fertilizer, one bag of UREA fertilizer, and 10 kg of hybrid maize seed, sufficient for cultivating one acre of land.
During the event, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, alongside the Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mr. Stephen Aidoo, expressed gratitude to the government and especially to Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, MP for Techiman South, for ensuring the timely provision of these resources to local farmers.
Hon. Gyarko encouraged farmers to heed the advice of Agricultural Extension Officers to maximize their yields.
In response to receiving the inputs, the farmers expressed their appreciation to both the MP for Techiman South and the government for the support.
Mr. Stephen Aidoo, the Municipal Director of Agriculture, also informed the farmers about additional support available for those cultivating more than one acre of land. Farmers needing extra fertilizer can register with the Agricultural Extension Officers to purchase additional supplies from authorized input dealers.
