Founding President of IMANI Africa Franklin Cudjoe has opined on the circumstances leading to the late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills' death.
Ghana marked the 12th anniversary of his death with a wreath-laying ceremony on Wednesday, July 24, in remembrance of Prof Atta Mills’ legacy.
In a post on Facebook, Mr. Cudjoe claimed that the late President was not fit but was made to appear so for political reasons instead of allowing him to access medical treatment.
This devious politics, as the policy advisor put it, is the reason Ghana lost its first sitting President five months into the 2012 general elections.
“Hmm, remembering Atta Mills. Devious politics made the poor man appear healthy and even had him jogging on the tarmac, when it was clear he was suffering, and then he died,” read part of his post.
He further cited the recent announcement by United States President and 2024 presumptive leader of the Democrats Joe Biden not to contest the November polls despite days of insistence on his supposed good health.
“Guess who something similar had happened to. Who would have thought that the Democrats in America, led by Vice President Kamala Harris, would keep telling the whole world for three and a half years that Biden was on top of everything even though it was clear the poor man had lost it. Eventually, Biden, himself, a stubborn Democrat reluctantly relinquished the idea of running again. Liars!!!” he wrote.
