2024 elections: We pray not to experience what happened in Sierra Leone, other countries; honour your word — Nana Ohene Ntow to EC

Nana Ohene Ntow, a leading member of the Movement for Change, has expressed his satisfaction with the Electoral Commission's assurance of free and fair presidential and parliamentary elections this December.

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, reiterated their commitment to providing a level playing field for all parties to ensure a successful election.

She assured the EC has enhanced its operations to deliver accurate election data.

“In terms of the arrangements put in place, the conduct of our field staff, the availability of materials, and the functioning of our equipment, among others, the 2024 Voters Registration Exercise was highly successful,” Mrs. Mensa stated.

She added, “It was inclusive and highly participatory, and to date, we have not heard or received any complaints relating to the disenfranchisement of citizens.”

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Nana Ohene Ntow emphasised the importance of violence-free and accurate elections.

He urged the EC, media, political parties, and all other stakeholders to exercise caution in declaring the election results.

"We’ve all seen and heard what happened in Sierra Leone as a result of political unrest and election related issues…We hope the EC will honour their word to us," Nana Ohene Ntow stated, supporting Mrs. Jean Mensa's call for credible elections.

He added, "We pray not to experience what happened in Sierra Leone and other countries."
