The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Suame, Hon. Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, has strongly defended the promises made by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing them as "realistic and possible".
Speaking on Kumasi-based Sompa FM, he dismissed claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that Dr. Bawumia's promises are unrealistic and mere propaganda.
"The promises made by the Vice President are grounded in reality and achievable," Hon. Ofosu Boakye emphasized. "It's unfortunate that the NDC is resorting to propaganda and misinformation to discredit the government's efforts."
"We are open to constructive criticism, but the NDC's constant negativity will not distract us from our vision to transform Ghana," the government appointee pointed out to the NDC panelist on the show, Akwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang.
The Suame MCE highlighted several initiatives implemented by the government, which he said, have positively impacted the lives of Ghanaians.
He cited the expansion of infrastructure, improvement in healthcare delivery, and the implementation of social intervention programs as examples of the government's commitment to development.
Hon. Ofosu Boakye challenged the NDC to provide alternative solutions to the country's challenges instead of engaging in "baseless criticism".
The Suame MCE's comments come ahead of the 2024 general elections, as the ruling party intensifies its campaign to retain power. The opposition NDC has been critical of the government's performance, accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises.
However, Hon. Ofosu Boakye is confident that the government's achievements will speak for themselves, and Ghanaians will reject the NDC's "propaganda" at the polls.
