The demonstration organized by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmakers against the Governor and Board of the Bank of Ghana has been rescheduled to August 13.

In a statement, Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson notified the Regional Police Commander of the Accra Regional Command that the protest date has been moved from July 30 due to a scheduling conflict with the NDC's national campaign launch in Tamale on July 27.

Dr. Forson requested to reschedule the demonstration to August 13 between 8am and 6pm, maintaining the same protest route from Obra Spot to the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum via Adabraka Farisco, Ridge Roundabout, and the National Theatre.

The Minority Leader expressed that the additional time would "give you more space to plan police protection during the demonstration."

He emphasized that the protest was being held to demand answers from the Bank of Ghana Governor over "wasteful spending" and the "latest cost of the new Bank of Ghana Corporate head office building."

Dr. Forson stated that the building's cost has "now further escalated to over Two Hundred and Seventy Million United States Dollars (USD 270 million) from its original approved estimated cost of USD 81,882,640.00."

He added that the Governor "has also commenced construction of a multi-million dollar residence for his comfort in Accra at a cost he has refused to disclose to the Minority."
