Following a heated exchange in Parliament on Monday, July 22 which led to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, ordering the removal of the Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso from the House Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, the MP has expressed dissatisfaction with the manner he was handled by the marshal.

In an interview on Okay FM on Tuesday, July 23, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie recounted the incident, stating that the marshal, acting on the Speaker's orders, forcibly tried to push him out as if he had committed a crime.

Dr. Kwaku Afriyie explained that he had already begun packing his belongings and was preparing to leave voluntarily after the Speaker's directive.

"My bowing out did not even convince him to rescind his directive. Some people were misinterpreting that I was resisting to be walked out.

“Actually, when he (the Speaker) first gave the order, I had already started packing my belongings, so there was no resistance. It was the marshal who tried to hold my hand to push me out as if I had committed a crime," he clarified.

Videos of the incident showed Dr. Kwaku Afriyie being forcibly walked out by the marshal.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, ordered Dr. Kwaku Afriyie’s removal after he made remarks deemed disrespectful.

The incident occurred following the Speaker's announcement of the nomination of new judges to the Supreme Court. Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, unimpressed by Speaker Bagbin's preliminary submission, described his remarks as prejudicial.

Speaker Bagbin, displeased with Dr. Kwaku Afriyie's comments, instructed the marshal, saying, "Marshal, take him out of the House. I will not entertain such disrespect. It lies in my mouth."
