ECOWAS had a strong presence on Sunday 21 July 2024 at the 6th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting with the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Regional Mechanisms through the presence of H.E. Bola Ahmed TINUBU, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman of the Authority of the Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS in Accra.
Also present at the Summit, which was opened by H.E. Mohamed Ould GHAZOUANI, President of the Arab Republic of Mauritania and current Chairman of the African Union, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa AKUFO-ADDO, President of the Republic of Ghana, several other Heads of State and Government of African countries, H. E. Moussa FAKI, President of the African Union Commission, H.E Dr Omar Alieu TOURAY, President of the ECOWAS Commission, Ambassador Abdel-Fatau MUSAH, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security and delegations from other Regional Economic Communities and the ECOWAS Commission.
This African Union meeting aims to take stock of regional integration and the efforts being made to promote peace, security, good governance and the achievement of sustainable development goals in Africa.
