The Government has announced a series of national and sub-national consultations to prepare for the upcoming 2024 Summit of the Future.
The 2024 Summit of the Future represents a pivotal moment in global governance, aiming to address interconnected challenges through strengthened international cooperation and multilateralism
The Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on SDGs (ICC-SDGs), through the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), will lead these efforts to gather input from a wide range of stakeholders across the country.
A press statement issued by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) stated that the nationwide consultations are scheduled to begin in July 2024, to finalise Ghana's position paper by early August.
The consultations aim to include input from government officials, civil society organisations, private sector representatives, academics, youth groups and marginalised communities.
According to the press statement, the forums will facilitate dialogue and debate to build consensus on Ghana's priorities and positions for the Summit.
"We want to ensure that Ghana's contribution to the Summit reflects our diverse interests and aspirations. By engaging stakeholders at all levels, we can develop a comprehensive and inclusive national position."
It stated that the consultations would focus on key themes including sustainable financing, peace and security, technology and youth empowerment.
The Commission urged Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to organise sectoral dialogues with support from their partners.
