The NPP Parliamentary candidate for Agona East Constituency, Hon. Hannah Asamoah, has cautioned the youth against being used by politicians to incite political violence in their communities.
She advised them to resist any attempts by political party leaders to influence them to cause mayhem for their own gain.
"It is sad to see our gallant youth being used as a political tool to create election-related violence against their own brothers and sisters in the same community because of political differences. I see this as an unfortunate situation which should not be counted among us. Agona East Constituency has been peaceful despite our political, tribal, or religious beliefs. We live in peace and harmony, tolerating each other's views and decisions. The December 7 General Elections shouldn't be the yardstick to create political violence," she stated.
Hon. Hannah Asamoah made these remarks after the Agona Swedru District Magistrate Court, presided over by His Honour Justice Victor Kusi, granted bail of GHC 10,000 each with three sureties to six persons brought before the court for removing a billboard belonging to the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Agona East, Hon. Hannah Asamoah. The court subsequently ordered the six accused persons to reinstall the billboard at its original location before their next court appearance on August 6, 2024.
"As a caring mother, I will never encourage anyone to engage in any form of violence. If anyone wants you to engage in political violence, ask them to send their children to do that dirty job for them. Don't do it in exchange for your precious lives. We in the NPP will continue to preach peace and coexistence, coupled with tolerance for each other in the Agona East Constituency and beyond. I hope the youth across the country learn a lesson from what has happened to their colleagues in Agona Mankrong Junction (Nkwanta) to avoid falling into the arms of the law," Hon. Hannah Asamoah stated.
