Relaxing conditions for accessing student loans is important because it allows more students to have access to higher education and pursue their academic goals. By making the process of obtaining student loans less stringent, it ensures that students from all backgrounds have the opportunity to further their education, regardless of their financial situation.

Relaxing conditions for accessing student loans also helps to reduce the financial burden on students and their families. Many students rely on student loans to cover the cost of tuition, books, and living expenses while in school. By making it easier for students to qualify for loans, it can help alleviate some of the financial stress that comes with pursuing a college education.

Additionally, relaxing conditions for accessing student loans can help to increase the overall level of education in society. When more students have access to higher education, it can lead to a more educated and skilled workforce, which can benefit the economy and society as a whole.

Overall, relaxing conditions for accessing student loans is important because it promotes equal access to education, reduces financial barriers for students, and contributes to the overall advancement of society.

For these reasons the 2024 presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress and a former president of the Republic of Ghana has promised to abolish guarantors as a pre-condition for accessing student loans.

He has stated that this requirement often poses a barrier to students from low-income backgrounds who may not have access to individuals who can serve as guarantors. By abolishing this requirement, Mahama aims to make higher education more accessible to all students, regardless of their financial circumstances.

He believes that every student should have the opportunity to pursue their educational goals without facing unnecessary obstacles.
