United States President Joe Biden's recovery from COVID-19 remains steady as he presses forward with his duties from isolation, according to an update provided by his physician.
Dr. Kevin O'Connor said in a statement that Biden, who was on his fourth day of Paxlovid treatment as at Friday, July 19, continues to experience a cough and hoarseness but that his symptoms "have improved meaningfully from yesterday."
"His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain absolutely normal," said O'Connor. "His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear."
Bloodwork shows "no anemia or evidence of bacterial infection," and kidney, liver and electrolyte functions are "good," the physician noted.
"The President continues to tolerate treatment well," O'Connor stated. "We will continue Paxlovid as planned."
At 81 years old and four months away from a high-stakes reelection battle, Biden's health remains of intense public interest.
But according to his doctor, the president is recovering smoothly from the viral infection while still carrying out his duties.
"In the meantime, the President continues to do the work of the American people," O'Connor affirmed in his statement.
