Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged the Ghana Police Service to intensify their security operations in the lead-up to the December 7, general elections.

Addressing police officers during a visit to the Police CID Headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, July 17, Dr. Bawumia commended the police for their effective policing initiatives such as 'Snatch Them Young' which focuses on school children.

However, the NPP flagbearer said more needs to be done considering Ghana is less than five months away from holding presidential and parliamentary polls.

"The 'Snatch Them Young' policing initiative, which focuses on school children amongst several other initiatives, has ensured a more responsive, accountable, and operationally effective policing institution," Dr. Bawumia said.

He added, "I would like to urge you to continue to do more, especially as the nation prepares to go into general elections come December 7."

As part of his visit, the Vice President unveiled an ultra-modern Ghana Police Shop at the Police Headquarters.

The shop is dedicated to the sale of police uniform items, souvenirs and other police logistics to ensure uniformity in the way the police dress during operational duties and special ceremonies.

The Kwahu Community, Geoford Enterprise, Netherlands Properties Limited and Nafas RN Ventures jointly funded the facility.
