Former National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku, has expressed confidence in his party's prospects for the 2024 elections, revealing that they will provide figures to predict their victory in October 2024.
Speaking on the sidelines at the unveiling of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Awuku contrasted the NPP’s approach to that of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He pointed out the inconsistency in the NDC’s projected victory margins, noting that while Edward Omane Boamah, Director of Elections and Information Communications Technology for the NDC, forecasts a 57.3% win for former President John Dramani Mahama, the National Chairman of the NDC predicts a 52% victory.
"We will not be like the NDC and give different figures we will win the 2024 elections with. Edward Omane Boamah forecasts a victory for former President John Dramani Mahama, estimating a win by 57.3%. The National Chairman of the NDC also projects the party will win by 52%. You can see that within some months' intervals they have moved from 57.3% to 52%. We will make our figures known by October," Awuku stated.
He also humorously suggested that the NDC should learn to collate their results accurately to avoid post-election attacks and claims of being cheated by the Electoral Commission.
A few months ago, Awuku had expressed confidence that the NPP would defeat the NDC in the 2024 elections through strategic planning.
He dismissed allegations of attempted rigging by the governing party, emphasizing that the NPP would focus its campaign on issues and well-thought-out strategies to secure victory.
"The last time I came here, I told you that the NPP will win the elections based on strategy, the NDC will not understand. We are proposing solutions," Awuku asserted.
Awuku emphasized the determination of the NPP’s candidates to bring positive change to the country.
To him, "the ballot in 2024 will be a choice between hope and hopelessness, between the future that the youth are dreaming of and the future you can never get. It will be a choice between a young man who is also determined that this is what I can do for my people when given the opportunity and the others."
Speaking on Metro TV's Good Evening Ghana Show, Awuku reiterated the NPP's superior message and strategy would resonate with Ghanaians.
"NPP will not attempt or try to rig a single ballot but our deep thought-out strategy, planning leading to execution, and also communicating what we can do to the Ghanaian people," he disclosed.
