Vote against Mahama if you don't want Ghana to go backwards — Akufo-Addo to Ghanaians

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has implored Ghanaians to vote against opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama in the upcoming 2024 elections to prevent the country from going backwards.

Addressing beneficiaries of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in Kumasi, the President said Mahama was the only Ghanaian leader not honoured with a second term due to his poor leadership and failure to deliver.

"Mahama is the only president who was not honoured by Ghanaians. All the other presidents, Rawlings, Kufuor, including myself, have been honoured with a second term in office.

“Mahama is the only one who was voted out of office after just one term. Today, Mahama says he wants a return to power. Do we want to go backwards as a country? I believe not," Akufo-Addo stated.

He urged supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to actively campaign for the party's 2024 flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He further asserted that Ghanaians deserve a competent leader as Dr. Bawumia who has justified himself even as a Vice President unlike Mr. Mahama who failed in his first term as President.

"Which one do you prefer, an unsuccessful president or a successful vice president? The vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has demonstrated that he’ll move this country further in development when he becomes president.

“Let no one deceive you, the one who is competent is the one who is given the job. Mahama failed to deliver as president, so he should not be elected back to power," Akufo-Addo remarked.
