The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor has emphatically stated that government is not involved in any state capture of lands.
The Akufo-Addo's government has recently been accused by North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa of selling state lands to cronies.
The MP has maintained that the selling of state lands is part of a state capture attempt by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking to Joys News to address the allegations, Lands Minister Samuel Abu Jinapor described them as falsehoods.
He accused Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa of accusing government of state capture just to score cheap political points.
The Minister said all governments including the administration of John Dramani Mahama were involved in selling state lands.
“From where I sit, all governments have sold public lands. I have a whole list of companies, of lands which were sold under President Mahama’s era from 2013 to 2017. Sold many of them in prime areas in cantonments,” Samuel Abu Jinapor said on Thursday.
The Lands Minister cautioned that if Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa wants to continue politicising the sale of state lands, he is also ready to come out with a list of state lands and how they were sold under the former President John Dramani Mahama administration.
“So many places in Accra. I can also come out with a list of NDC functionaries, NDC former Ministers, companies, of individuals who bought state lands, and who bought public lands under President Mahama. If that happens we lose the point. Then I will draw the hasty conclusion that John Mahama was involved in state capture. That will not help the discourse,” Samuel Abu Jinapor noted.
