Professor Samuel Adu Gyamfi, Head of the History and Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, against basing their campaign on the policies and legacies of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
In an interview on Neat FM, Prof. Gyamfi asserted that President Akufo-Addo has not left any better legacies or policies during his nearly eight-year tenure except the struggling Free SHS.
He warned that focusing the campaign on Akufo-Addo's achievements could be detrimental to the party's electoral chances.
"If the NPP tries to campaign on the so-called achievements of Akufo-Addo, they won't even secure 40% of the vote in the upcoming 2024 elections," he stated.
Prof. Gyamfi stressed the importance of the NPP shifting its campaign strategy to highlight Dr. Bawumia's potential contributions.
"The party should present the credible ideas and strengths that Bawumia brings to the table," he advised.
"So, they should go into this election with the prowess that Bawumia is bringing on board because Akufo-Addo's credentials cannot push the NPP. They shouldn't even try before he destroys Bawumia's campaign. I am being frank with you.
"Bawumia brings all the credible ideas that would have made Ghana," he added.

In effect, Bawumia has no message because he has served under the super incompetent president since independence.
