The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has rejected North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa's allegation that the land occupied by the Du Bois Centre has been unlawfully sold to cronies.
In its press release dated July 16, the Lands Minister Samuel Abu Jinapor provided background details on the land, stating it was acquired in 1897 for government purposes.
The minister added that the Lands Commission and his ministry have no pending application for the grant of this particular parcel of land.
“For the avoidance doubt the land occupied by the Du Bois Centre, the subject-matter of the Member of Parliament's allegations, has neither been sold nor leased to any private entity,” the statement reads in part.
This contradicts Ablakwa's claim that the Du Bois Centre land was another example of "state capture" under the current government.
The Ministry further assured the general public that the Government of President Akufo-Addo is committed to an efficient and effective land administration that is anchored on the highest standards of integrity, transparency and candour, in the public interest.
“The Ministry will, therefore, continue to work with all stakeholders to deliver an effective, transparent, responsive and orderly land administration which is above board and steeped in integrity,” it stressed.
