Beverage Investments Ghana Limited, local franchise holders for Pepsi International, has affirmed its commitment to working together with local recycling companies to recycle the virgin food grade materials used in plastic bottles.
“Recycling is the way forward all over the world and the company does not intend to be left behind as it equally provides employment in the long run.” Mr Charles Nimako, Managing Director of the company, has stated.
Mr Nimako made said this during a working visit to the just ended Golden Jubilee Trade Fair at the Accra International Trade Fair Centre.
He indicated that the food grade materials used for most plastic bottles could be recycled into other plastic products and said the company was ready to partner any recycling company in that direction.
Mr Nimako pointed out however that, “We need large consumption levels to make recycling economically profitable for the recycling companies”.
He said the time was now right for companies using plastic materials in their packages to begin assisting recycling companies in that respect.
